If my grandma can do it, so can you
Received the following note from my 89 year old grandmother over the weekend. I’m amazed at the ability of the Dell support rep to walk her through this although I have to wonder why he didn’t just advise her to buy a new computer.
“Yesterday from 4:20 pm to 7:00 pm with the help of a 24 year old Dell technician in Bangalore, I installed 4 new “1GBmemory” in the tower of my computer! I NEVER would have ordered the 4 new 1GBmemory if I’d realized what I’d have to do - I’d simply have gotten a new computer. I was told a Dell technician would help me install them, but WOW - I had to take out 8 plugs, take the back off the tower, take off an inside cover, remove 2 old memory things, install the 4 new ones, then put everything back in place. One problem re replacing the inside cover - so a local area Dell trained technician will call me Monday or Tuesday and come and put the inside - and then the outside - cover back on the tower. But except for that, everything is okay. Adarsh, the 24 year old technician, said my sons and grandsons won’t believe I did it! (I told him how old I was!).
Aren’t you proud of me!!!!!!! I’m giving myself a GOLD MEDAL!!!!!!!”
